New band The Album Era showcases at Adastra Hall

Taken from Hassocks Life Issue #71 : March 2025

The Album Era band was created by Josh Knight in the autumn of 2024. The group, which performs classic albums in their entirety, currently consists of Sussex-based musicians that Josh has met and worked with over several years.

Josh went to school at Downlands in Hassocks where he played guitar in bands and at open mic nights at The Greyhound and Proper Coffee. It was through these events that he first met Hassocks bass player, Phil Noble, who readers may remember from one of our Village People features. Josh subsequently joined Phil’s band Overdrive, performing across Sussex. Josh has also performed UK-wide in tributes to Fleetwood Mac, The Beatles and Carole King.

When Josh created The Album Era band, he contacted musicians who he had toured and performed with, including Phil, as well as Lindfield-based flautist and saxophonist, Sarah Furnell, and Plumpton-based keyboardist, James Honess.

To launch the band into the world, it made the most sense to Josh to choose a space and community he and the band are familiar with. Adastra Hall in Hassocks was an obvious choice!

The Album Era Showcase will take place on Saturday 3rd May at Adastra Hall, where the band will perform highlights from The Beatles’ Rubber Soul, David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust and Bruce Springsteen’s Born To Run albums. The band will then be performing Born To Run in full as well as more Springsteen hits at the Chequer Mead Theatre, East Grinstead on 11th July.
